Instructions

Important dates:

  • 10 March: Deadline for sending of a short abstract consisting of few lines about your thesis
  • 30 March:  Planning publication on this website
  • 15 April: Deadline for submitting thesis advancement report
  • 10 May: Deadline for submitting presentations
  • 17 and 18 May: Congress

Abstract instructions:

We ask you to send the title and a short abstract of 5 lines (maximum) about your thesis before the 10th of March (asbtract to send at  congres.edsys@gmail.com).

This abstract is fundamental to define as soon as possible the presentations sessions.

Advancement reports instructions:

  • Introduction (brief summary of the thesis subject)
  • Bibliographic summary and status of planned contribution
  • Technical problem(s) presentation
  • Contributions
  • Further work to be done until thesis end
  • The different parts must be balanced
  • Publications (published, accepted, submitted)
  • Volume: 6 to 8 pages in total, IEEE format, preferably written in French (in English if the doctoral student is not a french native-speaker).

WARNING : A cover page is to be downloaded from your ADUM profile and will have to be concatenated to this report. This cover page is available online for all PhD students 2A and 3A.

The advancement report with his cover page will have to be submitted (in PDF) on this website.

This document will be evaluated by two EDSYS-linked researchers (in priority by thesis supervisors of 2nd year PhD students). Their roles is different from previous years, indeed now it is about giving a review ( an evaluation grid will be provided).

Presentation instructions:

During the Congress and in accordance with the opinion of the Doctoral School Council, PhD students of 2nd year will have to present their thesis work in specific sessions related to their research themes (cf program). The evaluation of the oral presentation will be carried out by at least two researchers attached to EDSYS, like the two previous years.

You will have 15 minutes for your oral presentation and 5 minutes for questions, about 12 to 15 slides.
PhD students are strongly invited to respect the following guidelines:

  •  2 slides for the introduction, where you will explain the context of the thesis.
  •  2 slides for the situation of work compared to the state of the art.
  •  2 to 3 slides to expose the formal framework you have chosen (simple examples can help to understand this formal framework).
  •  3 to 4 slides to show your theoretical contributions and your first results.
  •  1 to 2 slides with your first critical conclusions and work outlook for the coming year.
  •  1 slide listing your publications (these may also be mentioned during the presentation)

If a PhD student can not be physically present at the Congress, he / she must present his work by videoconference. If so thank you for contacting the Congressional Organizing Committee (congres.edsys@gmail.com) as soon as possible.
